The FSDN Act is in force since 9 April 2025

On 9 April 2025, the FSDN Act, the EU’s Farm Sustainability Data Network, came into force (Journal of Laws 2025, item 368). The new legislation is a response to the revised EU law, which requires Member States to collect an extended range of farm data. The data will cover not only economic, but also environmental and social aspects, in order to provide a comprehensive assessment of the level of sustainability of European Union agriculture.

In Poland, the Institute of Agricultural and Food Economics – NRI is responsible for carrying out the task of the FSDN national network, acting as a Liaison Agency. Participation of farms in the survey will be voluntary, and all information will be collected anonymously and in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

The implementation of the FSDN, which is a continuation of the FADN, aims, among other things, to provide reliable data from a representative sample of agricultural holdings in order to determine the level of farm income. Also to monitor the fulfilment of the requirements of the Common Agricultural Policy, including the assessment of its impact on the agricultural sector. And to enable analysis of the level of sustainability of agricultural holdings, i.e. of agriculture in the European Union, taking into account the economic, environmental and social dimensions.
