International Experts visited the Polish FSDN

On 13 May 2025, we had the pleasure of hosting Mr Yuheng Li, a renowned rural geographer and Professor at the Institute of Geographic Sciences and Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Anna Rosa, PhD, Deputy Director for Economic Affairs at the Institute of Rural and Agricultural Development of the Polish Academy of Sciences, at the Agricultural Holdings Accountancy Department.

During the meeting the basic principles of selecting farms for the FADN/FSDN survey, the organisation of data collection – highlighting the role of Agricultural Advisory Centres, the methodology and thematic scope of data collection (national and EU legal basis), ways of verifying the accuracy of records (tests on individual data, European Commission tests, analysis of outlier farms, comparison of micro-economic FADN results with macro-economic EAA results – to verify the compatibility of trends), principles of cooperation with the European Commission, national and EU publications based on FADN/FADN data and the main uses of the data (creation of agricultural policy at the national and EU level, reports for the farmer as a tool to support farm management, FADN data as an argument for agricultural organisations negotiating new support systems) were discussed.

The guests were especially interested in the selection of farms for the survey and the exchange of farms participating in the survey over the years. The rules for the availability of the results from the Polish FADN/FSDN and other Member States databases including European Commission’s publicly accessible were discussed.

The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange experiences in monitoring farm performance for the purpose of supporting agricultural and rural development.
